In 1994, KLINIK am RING was the first private clinic to open its doors in the heart of Cologne. Since then, the owner-managed private clinic has continuously invested in modernization and technical progress. Under the motto "30 years of cutting-edge medicine in a personal environment", KLINIK am RING is celebrating three decades of patient care at the highest level this year.
Quality pays off: The facility is now one of the leading medical addresses in the Rhine metropolis. "We are delighted that the KLINIK am RING is not only an established name in specialist medical care in Cologne, but also enjoys an excellent reputation beyond the region," say Managing Directors Dr. Stephan Neubauer and Dr. Stefan Preis. With its innovative concept of diagnosis and treatment "from a single source" and the close integration of outpatient and inpatient care, the private clinic was already way ahead of its time. This primarily benefits the patients, emphasizes the management. Multiple examinations, inconvenient appointments and long waiting times are avoided and, at the same time, rapid recovery is achieved thanks to state-of-the-art treatment methods.
KLINIK am RING started operations with six cooperating specialist practices and inpatient departments. Today, the private clinic in Cologne has four operating theaters, a recovery ward and an interdisciplinary private ward with 23 beds. Today, 13 specialist departments and facilities work under one roof and treat around 200,000 patients every year. These include orthopaedics, urology, radiotherapy, ENT, oral and maxillofacial surgery, plastic surgery, dermatology, the skin forum as well as dentistry, anaesthesia and nuclear medicine/X-ray. In addition, more than 2,000 outpatient and 2,000 inpatient operations are performed each year.
The KLINIK am RING has been committed to modernity, progress and interdisciplinarity since the foundation stone was laid 30 years ago. In addition to standardized surgical techniques, the experts in their field therefore also rely on ultra-modern, specialized forms of treatment, such as in the treatment of prostate cancer with innovative and gentle minimally invasive techniques.
In 2002, the departments of urology and radiotherapy merged with the departments of anaesthesia, nuclear medicine and pathology to form the West German Prostate Center (WPZ). "This specialization gives us the opportunity to offer modern techniques with a high degree of routine," explains Head Physician Dr Neubauer, who founded the WPZ together with his colleague Dr Pedram Derakhshani. With its high number of cases, the interdisciplinary center is now one of the largest treatment centers in Europe and offers the entire spectrum of diagnostic and treatment options for prostate diseases.
The practice and inpatient department for orthopaedics and sports traumatology also enjoys a special reputation. The focus is primarily on diseases and injuries of the shoulder and knee joints, hip diseases and diseases of the spine. "Comprehensive expertise, precise diagnostics and good service are the cornerstones of optimal treatment and rapid recovery," emphasizes head physician Dr. Stefan Preis.
To ensure even better patient care, the Cologne orthopaedic surgeon and his colleague Dr Jörg Schröder founded the interdisciplinary West German Knee and Shoulder Centre in 2005 and established a specialist spine center in 2013. With over 20,000 patients treated and more than 2,300 operations performed each year, the ten-strong team of experts has excellent expertise that extends far beyond the borders of the Rhine metropolis.
The upscale atmosphere in the spacious patient rooms on the fourth floor of the building on Zülpicher Platz is more reminiscent of a hotel than a hospital. "In addition to providing the best possible medical care, we want to create an ambience for our patients in which they feel comfortable and recover quickly," emphasizes Gabriele Görber, Commercial Director of the clinic.
But a clinic is only as good as the people who work there. Today, more than 400 people are employed at the KLINIK am RING. Many have been with us from the very beginning and are firmly rooted in the clinic. Optimal training and further education opportunities as well as a family atmosphere that conveys a sense of belonging and support make KLINIK am RING an attractive employer in the heart of Cologne.
The clinic's founding fathers have now passed on their work to the next generation, which continues to sail on a successful course even in difficult times for healthcare policy. Dr. Neubauer: "We will not stand still, but will continue to grow and take on new challenges over the next 30 years. The fact is: KLINIK am RING will continue to provide high-quality medicine in a personal environment in the future. We are very proud of that."
